About the Stylist

Laina C. Pluim grew up in Ogden Ut. She attended the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College Cosmetology Program. While she was there she competed in SkillsUSA. She received:

1st Place Region SkillsUSA

1st Place State SkillsUSA UT

1st Place Nationals SkillsUSA

so you're asking what is SkillsUSA? Skills is a competition for the trade industry where competitors compete to the best of there ability in there particular trade. So for Laina, She competed in Upstyling, haircuts, written and oral testing.

From there, Laina went on to compete in World Competitions. She competed in HairWorld 2010 in Paris, France as a member of the Olympic Hair Team. She and her team ranked 5th Place in Creative and Technical. She also received 5th Place in Fashion and Long Hair Design.

The next year she competed in WorldSkills in London, England. As an individual contestant she competed in 8 different styles. These styles included cutting, coloring, perming, and styling, over the course of 4 days.

Laina now specializes in wedding hair design. With her extensive training in up styling she can perfect any hair type to a sleek, balanced style to compliment any face shape.
